ABOUT ME

Misha Cvijović is Serbian composer and pianist based in Berlin. She developed her musical career in the fields of contemporary instrumental and orchestra music, electroacoustic music , opera and contemporary music theater, theatre and film music.

Her compositions have been performed at numerous festivals, including: Eröffnung des Monats der zeitgenössischen Musik Berlin 2020, Symposium Neues Musiktheater Deutsche Oper Berlin, MaerzMusik, Klangwerkstatt für Neue Musik, 11th IMPULSE Graz (Call for Scores), Fresh Works for Fresh Minds Basel, Forum Neue Musik Berlin, Zoom Fokus Berlin, 29. Belgrade Jazz Festival, Performing Arts Festival Berlin, 40. Saarbrücker Max-Ophüls-Preis, Film Festival Achtung Berlin, Cannes Film Festival, Berlin Music Video Awards, etc.

Her compositions have been performed by many ensembles and orchestras for contemporary music, including: Zafraan Ensembe, RADAR Ensemble, Ensemble zone experimentale Basel, Orchestra Radio Television Serbia, SYNK Ensemble, Disturbulence 3, etc.

Her compositions were conducted by conducters like Titus Engel, Alessandro Crudele, Nodoka Okisawa, Musashi Baba, David Bui, etc.

During her opera/theater career she worked as composer, arranger, pianist and musical director. She worked with directors like Jonas Eglof (Deutsche Oper Berin), Alienor Dauchez (Donaueschinger Musiktage), Ulrike Schwab (Neuköllner Oper), Fabian Gerhardt (Theater Discounter, Theater am Kurfürstendamm, Johannes Müller (Sophiensaele Berlin, Theater Rampe Stuttgart, Theater Brut Vienna), Miloš Lolić (Yugoslav Drama Theater), Aleksandra Odić (ARTE), Jovana Tomić (Yugoslav Drama Theater), Iva Milošević (Theater Atelje 212), Snežana Trišić (UK Parobrod), Kokan Mladenović (Theater Atelje 212), Nebojša Bradić (Opera & Theatre Madlenianum), Djurdja Tešić (Theater Atelje 212), etc.

Misha graduated from the piano department (Bachelor and Master degree) at the Art Academy in Novi Sad in the class of Vladimir Ogarkov, as well as from the composition department (Bachelor and Master degree) at the Faculty of Music Arts in the class of Vlastimir Trajković. She graduated from the composition department at the renowned HfM Hanns Eisler Berlin in the class of Eun-Hwa Cho. She participated many international composition festivals and seminars with Mark Andre, Hannspeter Kyburz, Wolfgang Heiniger, Pierluigi Billone, Stefano Gervasoni, William Blake, Brian Ferneyhough, Johannes Schöllhorn, Isabel Mundry, Clara Iannotta, Sarah Maria Sun, Heiner Goebbels, She She Pop, Forced Entertainment, etc.

Misha was selected composer by Kulturprojekte Berlin scholarship program for professional Berlin artists and curators from Senate Department for Culture and Europe in Berlin 2020.
